17:03 A Day in The Life of Fergie
Designing Woman In 2007, the Grammy-winning and oh-so-glamorous Fergie partnered with Kipling to design a line of handbags that reflect her personal style. When the pretty Pea set out to promote designs from her new spring and summer collections, she let In Style follow along to get an inside look at how she keeps going and stays looking great during a marathon day of radio interviews, TV appearances and photo shoots. "I hit two radio shows, changed my outfit, did an interview for E! News, then changed again and did The Daily 10, then did a fashion show for MySpace," Fergie says of her full day. "I was fully dressed [posing for photos] at the W Hotel pool while everybody else is lounging. It was funny and ridiculous at the same time!" Beauty Regimen Fergie started her day with an early-morning session with makeup artist Ronit Shapow. "I got up at 5 a.m. and was in the chair at 5:30 for hair and make-up," the singer says. "I like to be glowing, but when you're on camera for TV they have to apply a lot more powder. So on the breaks, Ronit took off the makeup in some places, put some moisturizer on my skin, then reapplied the foundation." On The Air Fergie's first stop was KMVN Movin 93.9 FM for a chat with radio dj Rick Dees. During her time on the air, she gave away one of her Kipling Hot Shot bags to a lucky caller. "Nowadays they have cameras at the radio stations and everything is on the Internet," says Fergie, who paired a Dolce & Gabbana leather jacket with a funky Old Chola t-shirt and Joe's jeans for her first look of the day. Healthy Appetite "I started off the day with orange juice and my Emerald Greens vitamins," says Fergie, who is also a fan of the Diet Designs food delivery service. "My new thing is waiting until I'm hungry again, not eating just to eat." What does she snack on when hunger sets in? "We always have Baked Lays and hummus and vegetables. I'm trying to eat really healthy, but I definitely like to cheat!" Accessory Philosophy "I didn't want to wear anything that would clash with the bags I was showing off," says Fergie, who worked with stylists Laura Lightbody and Chris Psaila to set a fashion philosophy for the day. "I didn't want to go too overboard with the jewelry, so I kept it really simple with my engagement ring. And I had these crazy 'leftover' nails from a video shoot that were half black and half white!" Fashion Show and Tell Next up, Fergie headed to the W Hotel to show off her creations for MySpace with the help of some living mannequins. "I dressed the models accordingly, for daytime, nighttime, for the beach," the hands-on designer said of her approach to debuting her Show Off, Chic Rocker and California Doll collections for the cameras. "I wanted to give people ideas about how they could wear the bags in their own way." In The Hot Seat "It was really important for me to talk about the ideas behind the bags so that people will know these really came from me," Fergie says. "The collections are really personal. Each one represents a different part of me, just like my songs." Along with talking business, the singer also had to field questions about her personal life. "Everybody asked me if I was pregnant and they all wanted to know when Josh and I are getting married," she sighs. "We have had no time for planning so I have no idea what I'm talking about!" Always on the Run "MAC Lipglass. I'm the MAC Viva Glam girl this year so I always have one with me to show people and talk about the campaign," Fergie says of her handbag essentials. "I also always have sugar-free gum, my Sidekick, and my vitamins." What does the busy woman do once her work day is finally over? "I go home like any normal person who goes to work. I take off my make-up and just chill with my dogs and Josh. Maybe tonight I'll catch up on American Idol!"
